I want to be able to dress up for no reason but I always feel uncomfortable or overdressed and end up falling back to my cozy, casual roots. There have been too many times to count where I get super excited to take things up a notch so I put on an outfit, stare at myself in the mirror for way too long, then end up changing into something more casual. I always seem to feel my best in jeans.
The weather in November is always unpredictable so I decided to layer up when we were exploring the village of Clayton a few weeks ago. We've been lucky to have above seasonal temperatures these last few weeks. In the morning you need a jacket ans scarf, but on a sunny afternoon you'd be fine in a heavier sweater. The wind coming off the St. Lawrence river left a chill in the air, but multiple layers and the warmth from the sun made it bearable as we made our way in and out of the storefronts.
Let me just say that Clayton, NY has the best doorways. You could start an Instagram series and call it #doorwaysofclayton (I thought about it, trust me!) Coloured doors, decorated stoops, antique doorknobs. It was an odd thing to notice, but I now have an embarrassingly large collection of photos of random doors in Clayton, NY!
Jeans: Levi's | Plaid shirt: Old Navy | Oversize Flannel Scarf: Old Navy | Jacket: Zara (last year, similar here and here) | Cozy knit cardigan: H&M (similar)
What's your go-to look? Are you a jeans and t-shirt type or do you like to elevate your look? What do you feel your best in? I'd love to hear from you!
