APPLE CRISP (AND CRISP WEATHER)

Do you have a bag of apples in your fridge that you need to use up but you can't quite eat them all in one sitting?  I had a bag in the fridge on Sunday morning and after checking that my cupboard-staples were well stocked, I started chopping apples for a simple and sweet apple crisp.

I've been MIA but with Thanksgiving being last weekend, then a busy week at work, time really got away from me!  Hopefully the visions I have in my head for the next few weeks can be executed properly to maximize the update potential.

Back to the apple crisp!

I don't think you even need measurements for the topping (albeit I'll give 'em to you!) but it's all about taste. Oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, butter and flour sums it up pretty well.

This is so easy and I'm not even not going to lie, I eat it for breakfast.  It's apples! That makes it 100% acceptable to be breakfast.  Use up your leftovers that are bruised and begging to be consumed and make apple crisp.  If you're feeling really ambitious, add pears or cranberries and really jazz it up!

As for the measurements...

I used five Macintosh apples (peeled), but make it as apple-y as you want! Whatever fills your 8x8 pan to your liking.

For the topping:
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup melted butter
1/2 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Bake at 375 degrees for 30-40 minutes.

Serve it up warm, fresh out of the oven and share it with someone special.  The temperatures here in the capital are really dipping into the single digits, so it goes without saying that warm socks, layers, big fuzzy blankets, and soup are becoming a regular thing within these four walls!

Keep your eyes peeled for more fresh content coming your way soon!
